Merchant Spotlight: KiddoCare

KiddoCare is a childcare service platform that connects parents to caregivers, no matter the time and place. Starting as a nothing more than a simple idea for working mothers to reenter the workforce after childbirth, it has since grown into a trusted service provider used by thousands of parents throughout Malaysia.

Read our exclusive interview with Nadira Yusoff, CEO and Founder of KiddoCare, to understand her journey in bringing quality childcare to moms and dads. We also see how senangPay supercharged KiddoCare's payment services, ensuring a smooth experience for parents and care providers alike.

senangPay (sP): Could you tell us a bit about yourself and KiddoCare?

Nadira Yusoff (NY): My name is Nadira Yusoff, the founder and CEO of KiddoCare. KiddoCare is a platform that connects families and parents to early childhood care providers as well as elderly care providers for on-demand care services, basically anytime and anywhere they need.

sP: When did KiddoCare commence its operations and what motivated you to found KiddoCare?

NY: We started in 2018. At that time, it was an idea that we wanted to test out during the Tahun Memperkasakan Wanita (Women Empowerment Year). One of the things that was challenging for women was to continue what they started. So that was the whole idea: How can we solve the childcare issue, how can we solve it fast and at scale? How can we use technology to enhance safety and security while make payments easy and fair to care providers as well as parents?

It was an idea that sparked in 2018, we tested the idea and women loved it. Working parents loved it. And we thought: "Hey, this could be a real business model!" So we started operations in 2019, and that's how KiddoCare was born.

sP: Could you elaborate on the operational framework of your business?

NY: In terms of service, KiddoCare is available anytime, anywhere. It's very flexible as we wanted to make sure that we can address every needs of parents. Operationally, we make sure that, during the service, there is always our support team that monitors the service together with the parents.

In terms of demographic, we think that every family is a target customer, because you don't know when you may actually need some help.

sP: What significant milestones has KiddoCare achieved so far?

NY: I think we've achieved some really significant milestones for us. The fact that we've got over 8,000 caregivers that we've trained and enabled onto our platform. That is quite a feat.

We've also gone beyond 100,000 customers who we've served over a period of four years, including two years of MCO.

Another significant milestone is that we're recognised within the region as an economic empowerment platform for women.

sP: In what ways has senangPay enhanced Kiddocare's functionality?

NY: We want to become a platform that is very flexible and easy for parents to use. This is where senangPay comes in. senangPay allows us to cater to a wider range of preferred payment methods by customers. senangPay has also helped in enabling our carers to get their payment and commission in a way that is flexible for them.

sP: What challenges did implementing senangPay help you overcome?

NY: I think as a business, we're constantly looking for payment gateways and partners who can help us grow. As a business, support is very important because as a platform we need to be there for parents 24/7.

The biggest challenge that we overcame was the fact that we can now serve customers from different countries. Another challenge that we overcame is also the ease of making refunds.

sP: What made you choose our Special package?

NY: I think operationally and functionally, the system is more organised and easy to use. This package has the flexibility and options, that's basically the reason why we chose it. As a business, we're also looking at how can we find options that give us the best rates.

sP: Have you explored any of our other features like recurring payments or API integration?

NY: We're definitely looking into adding features like recurring payments and subscriptions. I think what senangPay has is an easy integration into our app and APIs. It's a solution for us to grow.

sP: Lastly, do you have any advice for any aspiring women entrepreneurs out there?

NY: If you would like to try and start a business, I think it's much easier now than it was during my time. I think digitalisation has allowed us opportunities to easily start a business. Nowadays, t's so important for you to include payment mechanisms on your website. It doesn't have to be an app for you to begin with.

For entrepreneurs out there who want to start a business, look into digitalisation because it will enable you to start and scale faster with the least cost. Whether you like it or not, once you start a business, it has to be online and a payment gateway is just something you need to incorporate into your business.
