The list of individuals who need to pay zakat fitrah include:

  • An individual who has an excess of food or belongings in relation to the needs of those under their care on the night and morning of Hari Raya
  • A child born before sundown on the last day of Ramadan and who is alive after sunset
  • An individual who has reverted to Islam before sunset on the last day of Ramadan
  • An individual who has passed away after sunset on the last day of Ramadan

 

Who is eligible to receive zakat (asnaf)?

There are eight categories of asnaf who are eligible to receive zakat, including:

1. Fakir

2. Miskin

3. Amil

4. Muallaf

5. Al-Riqab

6. Al-Gharimin

7. Fisabilillah

8. Ibnu Sabil
